Hi!
I'm Rhea Mittal

Hi! I'm currently pursuing my Master’s in HCI at Indiana University, Indianapolis.

I did my Bachelor’s at the Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, where one of the first quotes I heard was, “Design is everywhere.” What started as a casual encouragement not to limit our creativity to the classroom became a core philosophy that has shaped how I live and think. It reminded me to stay observant, lead with empathy, and bring design thinking into every part of my life, not just on the screen, but in how I connect with people and understand the world.

Noteable moments in my design journey

Talking about my design journey

I have been honoured to be a guest on a design podcast called Aedge, Adeptic Creative Labs, episode name: Unlearning by Design. I was invited to be a guest on the podcast during the 3rd year of my Bachelor's, to talk about my experience being a designer, my journey, my growth as a design practitioner and what I look forward to doing in the future. The podcast was shed light on Human Computer Interaction as a career field as Design is slowly gaining recognition and popularity in the world.

Owning a crochet store to explore alternative fashion options

During my Bachelor's, I started a crochet store with my college friend called, @stitchwitches I picked up crochet after learning about the effects of impulse buying and fast fashion. As a consumer, I found it chaotic to navigate clothing choices. During that time, I started learning how to weave and crochet and found it not only calming and meditative but also a way for me to create clothing products that didn't contribute to the fast fashion industry. I started making crochet items for myself and slowly started making them for other people as well!
